Who can benefit from ABC?
Families whose children have experienced any kind of early adversity, like a NICU stay or separation from a caregiver,
Parenting is occurring under challenging circumstances,
Infants or children are exhibiting expressions of socioemotional concerns, or
Infants or children are exhibiting behaviors that suggest an underlying socioemotional concern.
What are the benefits of participating?
Parenting is hard! ABC helps parents recognize ways to strengthen their relationship with their children and help children learn to regulate behaviors and emotions
ABC is strengths-based. The ABC “parent coaches” are trained to observe what parents are doing well, and help parents see their successes too
Parents learn to recognize their children’s signals for distress and play in ways that develop self-regulation
Children develop critical relationship and developmental skills that have long-term benefits. They learn to rely on and trust their parents, develop self-control and wellregulated stress hormone patterns and biology, and are able to pay attention in school.
What is different about ABC?
It is brief! ABC is only 10 weekly, hour-long sessions.
ABC was developed for and studied with families who have experienced early adversity, involvement in child welfare, and circumstances that can make parenting more challenging.
ABC is well-studied and supported by research. Objective rating agencies have rated ABC as empirically-supported and effective.
ABC has been implemented all over the world, in many different cultures and environments.

ABC is designed for families with infants between 6 and 24 months (infant program) and 24 and 48 months (toddler program).
Flying Bagel can provide FREE grant-funded ABC services in home or via telehealth to families in Kitsap County.
For families outside Kitsap in WA State, Flying Bagel is able to provide insurance-funded or private pay ABC services via telehealth or in home in Kitsap, Clallam, and Spokane Counties.
We encourage other children and caregivers in the home to participate as well!
